The Cathedral was built in 1521, but the building we enjoy today was restored in 1917.
Some of the very prominent buildings to mention are: Palacio de Santa Catalina good know as "La Fortaleza" or the Fortress which is the valid residence of the Governor of Puerto Rico.

Paseo la Princesa, a previous Spanish prison is now the home of the Puerto Rico Tourism Authority and it is surrounded by gardens and a large hike ideal for a morning or afternoon stroll.
At walking distance from all this is "El Morro" situated at the very tip of the peninsula that hosts Old San Juan. This imposing fortress welcomes all cruise ships arriving straight through the mouth of San Juan Bay.
Locals use the immense gardens for picnics and family reunions.
As mentioned the main artery is Fortaleza street and no less prominent is San Francisco Street, running parallel to the latter.
Both streets are filled with souvenir stores, jewelry shop and many more catering to the increasing amount of visitors to the area.
From Calle Fortaleza you many go down Tanca Street, pass next to the Old Post Office building and reach the port of San Juan and approximately sure you will see one of the many Cruise Liners visiting the island.
